My name is George Haritonidis, and Haritography.com is my blog that documents my passion for all things photography.
My journey in the recording of light into still images started much more recently than my compatriots, in late 2015 as I was about to become a father for the first time. The arrival of my future daughter flicked a switch in my mind, and I started thinking (among other things) on what was the best way to record my child as she grows older every year. I quickly realised that the iPhone that I had in my pocket was not going to cut the mustard.
Belonging to a Nikon family, where my father, sister and uncle all own Nikon camera equipment, I thought the more prudent thing to do was the same, if only to have the opportunity to borrow someone else's lens and have a play around. So I bought a Nikon D5300 coupled with an 18-105mm zoom lens, but before I knew it, it was me that was amassing a small collection of Nikon lenses, lending them out to friends and family.
Since then, my collection of camera equipment has grown. I am still quite entrenched in the Nikon system, forgoing the D5300 for my beloved D500 and a wide collection of lenses from 11mm up to 500mm. I've also expanded into film photography too, and I now currently own more film camera bodies than digital!
Although I do love camera gear and lenses, I have also grown a passion for beautiful photography. Camera gear and lenses serve as my mental release from my daily grind of being a website developer, it is the perfect balance for me between the nerdy analytical gear-talk and the beautiful and stunning artistic results created with cameras. I especially appreciate urban landscapes, natural landscapes, night and macro photography.
